REAL-JOBS Frequently Asked Questions
  1. How long does a resume or job stay on the system?

The current policy is for resumes and jobs both to stay on the system for 3 months since your last edit. It is possible to run the same resume for as long as you wish.

  2. What if I want to edit my resume or a job posting? Is there a charge?

These services are provided free of charge.

  3. What if I want to delete my resume? Is there any refund?

You can delete at any time through the edit function, but there is no refund.

  4. Why is Real-Jobs free for resume posting?

Real-Jobs was originally intended to serve the students from various real estate programs across North America. It soon became apparent that we could serve these students best by serving everyone. Professionals, in effect, subsidize the students when they post jobs, who then become professionals and continue this support

  5. What if I want to search for a job confidentially?

There are two ways of doing this. First, you may use an executive search firm who will post your resume with an anonymous label type name such as "Experienced Leasing Agent" and a response directed back to them. The other way is to use a friend as an intermediary.

  6. How do I improve the number of hits or responses to my resume?

You need to use the text areas to sell yourself, not just generically, but by emphasizing the ways you can add value to a business or serve a client. You need to use the text boxes wisely and be careful not to make any spelling or grammar errors.

  7. How do I improve the number of hits or responses to my job posting?

You need to sell the firm and the job as an exciting place to work. Emphasize those attributes that differentiate your firm from others, such as flexible work schedules, the ability to live anywhere you want, the types of colleagues you will gain experience from, the mentoring environment, the location as a good place to work or live.

  8. How do I keep my resume or job on the system beyond 3 months without re-posting?

Any minor edit will keep the job or resume posted for 3 months since the last time you touch the system. Also when someone searches the system, that last date you touched the system will be used to sort through resumes or jobs and so this frequent editing keeps your resume or job high in the sytem.

  9. Can I post a resume in a word File?

Yes, after the "Add Resume" form has been completed.
